What ring cut are you?

By Colleen Banks

An engagement ring is one of the biggest investments of your life – it’s the most sentimental, one of life’s biggest purchases and you wear it every single day. Therefore, it is important that it reflects your style, fits in with your lifestyle and most importantly you love it. No matter what shape you gravitate toward, your engagement ring should ultimately be your dream ring. It is also important that your ring suits your lifestyle – if you are active and are always using your hands, you want a ring that will hold up and won’t damage easy…think platinum metal, channel set band or halo style setting that encloses your diamond and protects it from hard surfaces. Or maybe you are all about bling, you are always out and about at fancy events or entertaining – then go for a three stone diamond ring or a ring with half-moon side stones that shows off your love for over-the-top sparkle. The most important thing is that your ring truly reflects you. We reached out to a few real brides who scored their dream engagement rings. Scroll down to see what ring cuts they are and why.

Bride: Sara
Husband: Jesse

What ring cut/style do you have as your engagement ring?
Emerald Crisscut®, halo diamond ring.

Did you or your husband choose it? Did you hint that you wanted this ring?
We picked it together!

Why is it the perfect ring for you?
It’s gorgeous, tasteful, durable, and affordable.

What do you love about your ring?
The style and size of diamond!

How does it relate to your personal style/lifestyle?
It’s flat to my finger and doesn’t snag.. I’m a mother, teacher, and photographer. I work a lot with my hands and it’s important that my ring lay flat. The ring is also very sparkly from any angle.

How did he propose?
Jesse took us out on our boat for the day and popped the question.. I found out everyone in the family knew once we got on land!

Editor’s Note: Sara loves a show-stopper ring with lots of sparkle but that is still practical for her busy lifestyle. With her Emerald Crisscut in a halo setting, she gets everything in one – the sparkle, the size and yet she doesn’t have to worry about it when she is playing with her kids or at work using her hands. Her ring is effortless and beautiful in one.

Bride: Meg L.
Husband: Trevor

What ring cut/style do you have as your engagement ring?
L’Amour Crisscut Classic with a pave set split shank.

Did you or your husband choose it? Did you hint that you wanted this ring?
My now-husband shopped for the ring by himself. But, after four years of dating, I had “subtly” left a Christopher Designs brochure on my kitchen counter. I bookmarked the page with this ring! 😉

Why is it the perfect ring for you?
This ring is feminine and wearable to almost any occasion.

What do you love about your ring?
I love the way it reflects light and constantly sparkles. I receive so many compliments about this ring.

How does it relate to your personal style/lifestyle?
A ‘girly girl’ at heart, I always had dreamed about a romantic yet “different” ring. When I first saw Christopher Designs, I was amazed by the uniqueness of how the diamonds are cut, giving them magnificent non-stop shimmer. When I’m exercising or just running errands, my matching Christopher Designs wedding band holds its own!

How did he propose?
Since we did not ring shop together, the proposal was a surprise. We got engaged July 29, 2017 on a quick weekend visit to the North Carolina mountains. It was a beautiful summer day, and we hiked up one of our favorite trails at Elk Knob State Park. When we reached the top, Trevor asked a stranger to take our picture (odd, since usually I’m the one who wants a picture)!
He got down on one knee, and the rest is history! We got married July 28, 2018.

Editor’s Note: Meg’s chic and feminine style is perfectly reflected in her L’Amour Crisscut classic ring. The split shank setting achieves that unique style that she wanted and the classic cut Crisscut gives her girly-girl side the perfect dose of sparkle. Her ring is elegant with a twist on tradition.

Bride: Paige
Husband: Brandon

What ring cut/style do you have as your engagement ring?
Cushion Crisscut G52!

Did you or your husband choose it? Did you hint that you wanted this ring?
My husband ultimately chose, but I definitely hinted that I would be thrilled to get a Christopher Designs ring! We looked at a very similar Christopher Designs ring a few months before he proposed and I couldn’t get it off my mind.

Why is it the perfect ring for you?
I think cushion cut diamonds and white gold are both timeless. I also thought cushion cuts looked the best on my hand because I have dainty fingers.

What do you love about your ring?
I love how the diamonds on the band compliment the halo!

How does it relate to your personal style/lifestyle?
I don’t wear much jewelry on a day to day basis so I wanted my ring to be a statement piece!

How does it relate to your personal style/lifestyle?
Brandon proposed during a trip to Boston in October of 2017. Halloween is my favorite holiday so we traveled up north to see the fall foliage and take a day trip to Salem. On the last day he popped the question while we were walking around Boston Public Garden. He hired a photographer to capture the moment and I was so thankful and impressed!

Editor’s Note: Paige’s style is the perfect mix between understated elegance with a flair for the glamorous. Her Cushion Crisscut matches her simple yet timeless style but gives her the drama that she wanted in her statement ring. Her ring is lasting glam.
