The Artist

Christopher Slowinski began his journey into painting in 2012, when he received an oil painting set as a Christmas gift from his wife. What started as a thoughtful present quickly became a meaningful passion. Known as the founder of Christopher Designs, where he channels his creativity into crafting innovative diamond cuts, Christopher also discovered a deep, personal fulfillment in painting.

As a self-taught artist with a lifelong talent for drawing with pencil and paper, he found that painting offered a powerful way to decompress and explore his inner world outside of his work with diamonds. His inspiration stems not only from the vibrant energy of New York, where he has lived for over four decades, but also from the quiet beauty of nature and the subtle, often overlooked moments of everyday life.

Christopher’s work is defined by its bold technique and expressive use of color. His paintings, exclusively oil on canvas, often exhibit a strong Impasto style, rich in texture and depth, with hints of Alla Prima and Blending techniques layered throughout. He prefers to work with oil paint—not only for its richness and flexibility, but also because its slow drying time suits his thoughtful approach to composition. In a way, oil seemed like the perfect match for Slowinski—both in name and in nature—allowing him the time to reflect, revise, and truly connect with the canvas. Influenced by the Fat Over Lean principle, his approach gives life to vivid compositions that pulse with energy. His interpretations of New York—raw, colorful, and emotionally charged—position him as a unique voice in the Modern Art scene. Through his distinctive style, Christopher continues to contribute meaningfully to contemporary art, painting with the same passion that first sparked his love for the craft.
